The parable of net says to me that I really need to make time for our lord in order to revive my spirit. If I pray for forgiveness of sin in my life….I’ll be blessed with goodness and at the end of the age, I wont be looked at as wicked, bad, selfish.. I know in my heart the lord has much more in store for me! I feel the love

In verses 12: 43-45, the evil spirit goes place to place seeking rest. Then it say’s I will return to the house I left. When it arrives it finds the the house (person) unoccupied, swept clean, put in order and it takes seven other wicked spirits to live there. The final condition of that man is worse then the first. My thoughts are if there’s a vacancy in our souls the evil spirits will find a way in. When were grounded and believe in God’s word, evil spirits can’t penetrate our souls.

I think you’re exactly right, Sandra! It would have to be our burdens of guilt and pain, because He doesn’t promise us new cars each year or a pile of money in the closet.

In fact, in Matthew 10, we read where He told the apostles “You will be hated for My name’s sake,” so clearly He isn’t promising us an easy life here on earth. It may happen that way, but I don’t believe it’s a promise.

But as a sinner who is saved only by His grace, I know that the guilt and bitterness in my life was worse than being broke or sick or even breaking bones.

dandelions…great way to sum things up Michelle and a great way to see things clearly.
The workers go out, spread the message, plant the seeds, water the dandelions…..That’s sort of what you did for me……in a way..right?

You’re right…we have to put him above everything! That seems difficult to do. I know that I’m probably not worthy of of Christ at this point…however, I will get there !! I’m on my way to understanding, believing and trusting.

What speaks to me in this chapter is when Jesus said Come to me , all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens , and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you.Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear and the burden I give you is light.

I think what Jesus is saying in this passage is that he wants us to trade our yoke–could be the burden of guilt or pain for his yoke- Gods grace. We need to “turn it over , give him the reins so that we can find peace and rest for our souls. Only Christ can give us true peace when he’s lord and savior in our lives.

It goes even further than that. I believe it means that we have to put Him above everything. And then, on top of that, we have “pick up our cross” and follow Him.

I wondered what that meant, and then, after much reading and watching of “The Passion,” I realized what it was REALLY like for Him to carry that cross: He was under so much stress that the night before, He literally sweat blood. That morning, He was beaten with fists and whips, His face was unrecognizable; He had a crown of thorns pushed into His head. Then He had to carry His cross. He was so traumatized and in so much pain that he simply could not carry it very far by Himself. He collapsed, and someone else — Simon of Cyrene — had to carry the cross the rest of the way.

When I look at what Christ went through to get to the cross-carrying and then look at what Simon had to do to carry it the rest of the way for Him, I realize that while Simon’s task was difficult, it was nowhere near what Jesus had to go through to get to where Simon began to carry it.

And that’s where I am: I know that in order to be worthy of Christ, I have to carry my cross and actually follow Him. And I’m grateful that it’s not as heavy a burden as He had, or even as Simon had.

37 The person who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; the person who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.

38 And whoever doesn’t take up his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me.

39 Anyone finding his life will lose it, and anyone losing his life because of Me will find it.

My understanding of verses 37-39 is that if we receive and follow Jesu,s our lives will be complete. He will lead us to peace, everlasting life and he’ll never betray us.
